Our Hygienists
Our dental hygienists are specially trained members of the team. They play an important role in dental health care, the prevention of gum disease and the maintenance of restoration's (fillings, crowns, bridges etc).
Amongst the adult population in the UK, gum disease is the greatest threat to your teeth, claiming responsibility for a staggering 75% of all tooth loss.
Hygienists have two main roles, scaling and polishing teeth and teaching patients to establish and maintain an oral hygiene programme to meet your specific needs and skills. This is particularly important when restorations are present; crown and bridgework are an ideal place for plaque to accumulate. If plaque is not removed from these areas it will dramatically reduce the life span of the restorations.
